Workshops
Here are just a few workshops I have had the privilege of leading. If you are interested in learning more please contact me here.
Global Cardboard Challenge
Since 2012, in the fall of each year, kids everywhere take part in the Cardboard Challenge. It began with the amazing short documentary, 'Caine's Arcade’, the story of a 9-year boy and his elaborate cardboard arcade. Now, once a year, children all over the world build anything their creative minds can imagine. I get to partner with local businesses that host this event annually.
Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School
I was invited to teach a Stencil Art Workshop and perform a Mural Installation at GBMS in Oak Park, IL. I worked along side the students, teaching them practical techniques used in street art. The goal was to creatively introduce IB Global Contexts. By cutting stencils, the students were then able to spray paint patterns, words, and shapes to wood panels that were later cut out by myself and professionally installed.
Ella FlagG Young Middle School
The after school art club at EFYMS learned about apparel design. We briefly covered the various ways graphics can be applied to a number of garments. I designed a custom logo for the after school club (Beyond The Bell) and demonstrated how the vinyl is cut. Students then got hands on training on how to weed vinyl and prep their garments (t-shirts) for a final heat press application.
